Each year, MKS asks every Keppel family to donate in order to fully fund our school's

Dance, Drama, Music and Visual-Art classes, plus support other school-wide Art programs.

This year MKS is asking for a donation of $150 per student

MKS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity and all donations are tax-deductible.

Thank you for investing in your school via MKS!

Why should I Give?

Your donations help pay for the four Resident Artist classes that our Keppel students take during the year, as well as Art Supplies, Intervention Teachers, and other art-related school-wide events for all Keppel Families to enjoy. The majority of the funding does not come from the District, Grants, or your Tax Dollars.

Why should I care about the arts?

During these challenging times, the Arts are critical; they help our children express themselves, process stress, and connect with others. Also, studies show that children who study the Arts are 4 times as likely to be recognized for academic achievement, do better on standardized tests, have higher GPAs overall and are more likely to earn a college degree.

I can't donate the full amount of $150, what should I do?

Our annual fund is not only about funding our Arts programs, but also about coming together as a community to support our school. Really, truly, any amount helps, so please give what you can. We also accept payments in installments throughout the year via PayPal if that is better for your budget.

For more ideas on how to support MKS, check out the options under the Support heading at the top of the page.

WHERE DOES MY MONEY GO?

MKS is the sole source of funding for four distinct art classes and additional art programs. Without YOUR donations, Keppel would lose the curriculum for which we are renowned.

Your donations go toward:

Four Distinct Art Classes – Each year, as part of the school curriculum, every Mark Keppel student receives instruction from our Resident Artists in three out of four different art disciplines, which include dance, music, theatre, and visual art. These classes are 100% funded through your donations and have been for over 10 years.

Supplies - Paper, canvas, paint, clay, props, instruments and more are all key elements of your child's art instruction.

Masterclass - 4th and 5th graders have the opportunity to participate in Masterclass.  This year-long program meets at least once a week and is designed to demonstrate the different elements required to produce a musical.  Masterclass culminates with a theatrical production performed for the community during the third trimester. Past productions include: Beauty and The Beast, Jr., Aladdin Jr. and Peter Pan Jr.

Intervention Teachers – During the school day, these teachers work in small groups with students who may need a little more time going over concepts learned in the classroom. This allows the primary teacher to continue lessons with the rest of the class, which benefits all students throughout the school, at every grade level.

Additionally, MKS produces art-related events for the whole Keppel community to enjoy. These fun events include our Keppel Rocks the Arts concert, Art Night, and the Fourth Grade Silent Film Festival.
